How to Dispute a DoorDash Charge

DoorDash disputes are usually about a missing or wrong order, a double charge, or a delivery fee that seems off. Support resolves most of these quickly if you're specific about what happened.

Whether you're calling it a refund request, a chargeback, disputing the charge, or just contesting it, the steps below are the same.

Step 1

Find the order in your DoorDash account

Go to Orders, select the one in question, and check the receipt breakdown — sometimes a higher-than-expected charge is actually surge pricing or a service fee that was disclosed but easy to miss at checkout.

Step 2

Use Help on that specific order

DoorDash's support ties directly to the order and usually resolves a missing item, wrong order, or double charge within the conversation, often with an automatic partial or full refund.

Step 3

Be specific if it needs writing up

State what you ordered, what actually arrived (or didn't), the charge amount, and the refund or credit you're requesting.

Step 4

If support won't resolve it, dispute with your card issuer

Bring your order confirmation, the charge, and a written account of what happened and what you asked DoorDash to do.

Tips that help
  • •Photos of what actually arrived make a huge difference for a wrong/missing item dispute — take one before you start eating, not after.
  • •A double charge is usually a temporary authorization hold, not an actual double charge — check if it's dropped off within a few days before disputing it as an error.
  • •DoorDash's refund/credit offer through the app is often faster than a card dispute — worth trying that route first even if you plan to escalate.
